This poem recalls a view of my
grandparents’ cottage beside the Grand Union Canal in a rural part of
Middlesex. It was originally written in response to a #haikufeels ‘prompt’ (on
Bluesky) to write a haiku using the word: ‘dwell.’
Dwelling by the canal
– gnats and midges,
dancing over silent water.
