This poem is based upon a piece of Cornish folklore which was turned into a beautiful children’s story book by Antonia Barber and Nicola Bayley, The Mousehole Cat (1991).

 

 

TOM BAWCOCK’S EVE

 

As the storm abates,

all eyes turn to heaven –

eating our stargazy pie.
